West Indies Secure Series Win

In a gripping match on Wednesday in Chattogram, a rapid half-century from Tanzid Hasan was not enough to save Bangladesh, as West Indies triumphed by 14 runs, clinching the T20I series.

Akeal Hosein and Romario Shepherd each took three wickets, with Hosein's performance (3/22) allowing him to surpass the legendary Dwayne Bravo, now holding the second-most wickets for West Indies in T20Is with 81 in 83 matches at an average of 25.51, including one five-wicket haul.

Chasing a target of 150, Bangladesh managed only 135 runs for the loss of 8 wickets, falling short despite needing 26 runs in the last two overs.

Key Contributions from Hope and Athaneze

West Indies won the toss and opted to bat first. Alick Athaneze scored 52 runs off 33 balls, hitting five fours and three sixes, while captain Shai Hope contributed 55 runs from 36 balls, including three fours and five sixes. Together, they formed a solid 105-run partnership for the second wicket after an early dismissal of Brandon King (1).

However, Bangladesh's bowlers, Mustafizur Rahman (3/21), Rishad Hossain (2/20), and Nasum Ahmed (2/35), restricted the West Indies to a total of 149/9 in their 20 overs, with Roston Chase (17* off 15) and Romario Shepherd (13 off 16) providing late runs.

Bangladesh's Struggles in the Chase

In their innings, Bangladesh faced difficulties forming substantial partnerships. Tanzid Hasan scored 61 runs off 48 balls, featuring three fours and three sixes, but was dismissed as the fourth wicket at 117 runs in the 17th over.

The West Indies bowlers, particularly Shepherd (3/29), Hosein (3/22), and Jason Holder (2/20), caused a batting collapse, leading to Bangladesh's final score of 135/8, losing four wickets for just 18 runs under pressure.

Shepherd was named 'Player of the Match' for his all-round performance, contributing 13 runs and taking three wickets. With this victory, West Indies now leads the series 2-0 with one match remaining.
